Day 6

Ray's healing process does not go in a straight line, but ebbs and flows.

Today food makes him queasy, and he hasn't eaten anything really at all since breakfast.  He's been tired all day and hasn't had an abundance of energy for walking, though he follows directions and walks anyway.  They said the earliest we might be discharged is Monday, but I think the idea of that is gone now, though we're not in a super-big hurry.  All of the ins and outs of the cords, processes and variations of necessary tasks needed to maintain this equipment is slightly daunting.

At 7:15pm, we're still hoping we might see the weekend doctor and get some anti-nausea medicine at the least.

I will say that I miss my boys immensely.  It has been hard on my heart.

We did have some fun visitors.  Seth and Claire came this morning, bringing with them a robe and pjs, so that Ray would feel a bit more comfortable on his walks (as they only provide those generic hospital gowns here).  See below for his very handsome picture!

Mike and Andi (Claire's mom and step-dad) came by this morning and had us laughing, sharing about Baltimore's festivities now on the marina today.

And this evening, Moriah arrived, combatting the baseball traffic!

It's made the day pass enjoyably.

Handsome, eh?

  1. Ray,

I've been keeping up with the blog and praying for you daily!! Glad to see you are making such great progress and are on the road to recovery. We miss you at school! Your kids (this year's and past students) regularly stop by my room to see if there's an update on how you're doing. You are so loved! Hang in there and please, Kelli, do not hesitate to ask if there's anything I can do to help you guys out! I would be more than happy to pitch in if you need anything.

    In Christ,
    Emily Herndon
