(A brief moment of play captured. Adorable, no?)
My darling went to work today.
I asked him last night if he felt like he could really make it through a day of work, since walking up the steps in our house has him ready for a three hour nap, and he did not leave the bedroom much at all over his spring break. He said to me, "I'll just have to depend on the goodness of others." I'm certain that means a plan for sleeping through his planning period, for not leaving his desk all day, for just trying to get through as best he can. I also know that means he'll come home right after school and sleep through the night!
Tomorrow, he misses work for his last dose of chemo.
We're glad the end of this poisonous journey is in sight, but as we've keenly become aware: it's not the receiving of the chemo that's so difficult, it's the long spell of sickness that follows.
So we'll keep you posted, but hopes are for a much healthier position in a couple of weeks! Ideally, it's going to be a really tough weekend, and then everyday will get better.
Did I tell you that as of right now, he's scheduled to go to Johns Hopkins in late May for a check-up of sorts, and then surgery in early June? Hopefully we'll know some official dates soon.
You guys are amazing.
Thank you for your prayers and love.
Good look tomorrow, Ray. I didn't get a chance to say good-bye and good luck at the end of the day. Keep in touch when you can and let us know how you're doing.
ReplyDeleteLast time!!!!!! So happy and relieved for both of you.
Hope this week end isn't as bad as last week end.
Karen
Am praying all goes well, this treatment being not as 'big' as last time, hope so. Wishing you Happy Hugs (people, not porcelain). Last time, no more! It's behind you!! Gayle
