I am continuing to progress. I can sleep for two hours or a little more at a time now.
Last year, Scott Habeeb and I partnered with some great people in Little Rock to begin a conference named "Called to Teach." It is aimed at Christian teachers - even in public schools. The goal is to help those teachers learn how they can live out their faith in the classroom.
It appeared that my surgery was going to keep me from being able to be a part of the conference this year, but my progress is going to allow me to go. I am now five weeks out from my surgery, and it will be eight weeks by the time the conference happens during the first week of August. I emailed Dr. Schoenberg at Johns Hopkins, and he gave his blessing to my participation.
I am quite excited - and a little scared - about flying again and getting back into the world of real people. I thank God for the fact that He is going to allow me to be a part of "Called to Teach." It was a dream of ours for several years before it finally got off the ground. This year it will actually be two separate conferences. One will be on August 4 in Monticello, Arkansas and the other will be in Little Rock on August 5. I really am excited about going!
We're all so excited that you are doing well enough to return to Arkansas. God is so good!
