The Final Big One

We arrived for the first round of the last cycle this morning at 9 a.m. There was a bit of delay as the blood test showed some possible signs that the chemo was messing with my kidneys. They sent some of my blood to Roanoke for further review. In about an hour the report came back with a good result.

Speaking of blood, we had a blood letting when the needle was inserted, there were not enough gloved hands left to handle everything that happened, so blood started squirting out. It was a good thing that it was on the opposite side from Kelli as she does not do well with blood and needles. Kelli also had a hard time sleeping in the chair that was provided. It was fun to watch her as she had a pillow on the side of my chair. It is hard to sleep sitting in a chair with a pillow on another chair.

We left chemo a little after 4 p.m. and picked up the boys.

Kelli's good friend Sophy took care of them for the day. She took them to her father's farm where they were able to pet horses and lamas. I cannot believe how good people have been to my family and me. Praise God for His angels!

We went to Chic Filet for dinner, and the boys had a great time on the playground. Speaking of blood again, Matt hit his nose while climbing a pole and bled all over the place. He came running out to our table and other patrons came running with napkins. It was quite the scene!

I fell asleep when we got home and woke up two hours later when Seth called. It is always good to hear from him. A few minutes after he called, Devon called to check on me. Devon is one of my favorite students from all the years. He is Seth's age and played ball against him. I think I recall Devon smacking a game winning hit off of Seth back in Little League. I am truly blessed that so many people care about me!
